Cabbage De-Leafing System

Overview

The cabbage de-leafing system is available as a single or twin-row stainless steel system (depending on volume), constructed from the same gentle and ribbed polyurethane spiral rollers that are used very successfully within the Evolution Separator. Stored cabbage is generally fed from the box tipper through a conveyor system and onto a trimming station to remove any excess stalk. The knife edges are protected by polypropylene chopping boards mounted on either side. A wide-pitched grill allows chopped waste to fall directly through and onto the waste belt. Pre-trimmed cabbages are then manually rolled down a slight incline and onto the individually adjustable spiralling rollers. The action of the turning rollers against the stainless steel tapered channel ‘gently removes’ a significant amount of outer leaf. The optional blower system, which is adjustable for angle (working against or behind the flow of the crop), blows away the remaining outer leaves. These leaves are subsequently extracted through the spiral roller system and then onto a central waste removal belt. On exiting the de-leafing stage, the cabbages move onto the lower product belt, which allows for any remaining leaves to be removed manually with a secondary air jet. This modular system is available in any arrangement to meet your specific processing line requirements.
